Hollow fibre duvets and duo duvets for UK climate
This entry was posted on 23rd May 2011.
As the chilly British Winter is nearing, many housewives start thinking of the possibility to purchase extra hollow fibre duvets, or to re-stock their families so that they can dispose of worn out bedding.
Duo duvets are an excellent option, as the set contains two units of 10.5 and 4.5 Tog respectively, which allows for choosing the suitable interchangeable and detachable density for the different Winter weather conditions. Although you can always buy single duvets, double duvet sets a an economical solution.
It is important to choose the correct tog rating , that is to say, the capacity of duvets to keep warm air. It should also be borne in mind that natural fillings’ thermal capacity is better than in the case of synthetic fibre duvets. That is the reason why natural fibre duvets need less filling material so they are usually lighter than the synthetic ones, so don’t be deceived by this fact. A summer duvet should have a tog rating of 4.5, whereas Autumn/ Winter ones must have a tog between 9.0 and 13.5
As most hollow fibre duvets are made of non allergenic materials, they are harmless for people, even for kids, and they offer unequalled warmth and comfort thanks to their 100 % polyester or cotton thermal fibres that help to keep the duvet’s shape for years. Although they can be hand washed or machine washed, always take into account the advice provided on the product’s label.
They usually come in different bed sizes: such as king duvets for king size beds, or duvets for single, double and even Super King size beds.
